About Me
I am Aaron. I'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
I love math as much as I love food and travel.
As a global citizen, I make it a point to try as much local cuisine and street food as possible whenever I travel. But of course the best food is home food, made by my mom and by my girlfriend's grandparents.

Math has been an important part of my life as I feel excited about manipulating numbers. Math is, in a way the same as music and arts, a global language. It can be not only so abstract and intangible, but also seen everywhere in our daily life.

My Field of Research
Over fields of finite characteristic, there are many open questions about the representation theory of the symmetric group. I am particularly interested in the problem of decomposition numbers.
The Iwahori-Hecke algebra can be thought of as a q-deformation of the symmetric group. One can obtain the decomposition numbers for the symmetric groups from the decomposition numbers of the Iwahori-Hecke algebras by setting q=1.
The q-Schur algebras are intimately related with the Iwahori-Hecke algebras via the Schur functor. In fact full knowledge of the decomposition numbers (for all n) of the former is equivalent to full knowledge of the decomposition numbers of the letter.
